AMBER Thunderstorms Alert

The Met Office has issued an Amber Warning of thunderstorms for London and South East England valid between 04:00 on Sat 19 Jul 2025 and 11:00 on Sat 19 Jul 2025. 

Headline - Torrential rain, with thunderstorms in places, could lead to some significant surface water flooding during Saturday morning. View the full warning at the Met Office Severe Weather Warning site.

What are the potential impacts?

Some communities likely to become cut off if roads flood Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, delays and some cancellations to train and bus services are likely Spray and sudden flooding probably leading to difficult driving conditions and some road closures Power cuts likely to occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost Flooding of homes and businesses is likely and could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds Fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely, causing danger to life.
