BE AWARE OF VACCINATION SCAMS

VACCINATION SCAM ALERT

People are warned to be alert to scams. The vaccine is only available from the NHS and the NHS will contact you when it is your turn by letter or telephone. The NHS will:

  • NEVER ask you to press a button on your keypad or send a text asking you to confirm you want the vaccine. Doing so is likely to result in a charge being applied to your phone bill.
  • NEVER ask for payment for the vaccine or for your bank details. There is no charge for the vaccination. Personal details should not be given out.
  • NEVER arrive unannounced at your home to administer the vaccine
  • NEVER ask you to prove your identity by sending copies of personal documents such as your passport, driving licence, bills or pay slips.

If you receive a call you believe to be fraudulent, hang up. Suspicious text messages should be forwarded to the number 7726 which is free of charge. If you are suspicious about an email you have received, forward it to report@phishing.gov.uk.

If you believe you have been the victim of fraud or identity theft you should report this directly to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or visit  www.actionfraud.police.uk.

Where the victim is vulnerable, report it to Sussex Police online or by calling 101
